What did the tweet say?
The tweet, posted on Friday on the Twitter account of the Defence Visual Information Distribution Service (DVIDS), stated: “The last thing #Millennials will see if they attempt the #area51raid today” alongside a photo of military men and women standing in front of a B-2 stealth bomber.
On Saturday the unit apologised, tweeting that an employee of its DVIDSHub account posted a tweet that “in NO WAY supports the stance of the Department of Defence. It was inappropriate and we apologise for this mistake.”
Area 51 raid lures festive UFO hunters to Nevada desert; five arrested
More than 3,000 out-of-towners ventured on Thursday and Friday to the desert region around Area 51, a secretive U.S. Air Force installation long rumored to house government secrets about extraterrestrial life and spaceships.
Three people were arrested on suspicion of trespassing onto the grounds of Area 51, Lee said. Another was arrested for indecent exposure after urinating near an entrance to the base, and a fifth for an alcohol-related incident, Lee said.
The arrests were reported after a group of about 150 UFO fans and curiosity-seekers gathered outside the heavily guarded entrance to Area 51 around 3 a.m. on Friday, the date and time set by the social-media invitation that went viral.

Alienstock organizer optimistic after ‘fabulous’ 1st day — BLOG
RACHEL — As the first musical act got underway at 8 p.m. Thursday, Little A’Le’Inn co-owner Connie West felt a sense of accomplishment.
No, attendees at the first night of Alienstock hadn’t seen any extraterrestrial life, but seeing the event pop off was out of this world.
“I’m fabulous; I can’t even describe it,” West said. “This is the highest high I’ve ever been in my life. They said we couldn’t do it, and I did it. We did it.”
“It’s been overwhelming in the most amazing way,” West said. “I’m just elevated with it. I’ve never been the recipient of this much support in my life.”
Several minor injuries were reported, including a man treated for dehydration in Rachel.

UFO Sightings. Storming Area 51. Is it Time to Believe?
Don Lincoln, a physicist and senior scientist at Fermilab, America’s pre-eminent particle physics laboratory, says he’s highly skeptical of any extraterrestrial origins of these objects. Lincoln is an author and public speaker, and wrote the book “Alien Universe: Extraterrestrial Life in Our Minds and in the Cosmos.”
“We know enough about physics and chemistry to think it likely that life does exist on other planets,” says Lincoln. “Whether or not that life is then complicated and complex enough to make a craft that will travel through interstellar space and then, a second step, that they’re actually coming here, that’s far more problematic.”
Lincoln says he doesn’t want people to think he’s simply being dismissive.
“We’re in the business of discovering new things, blazing frontiers of knowledge, trying to understand stuff that nobody knows,” he continues. “Nobody would be more fascinated than I if we were able to demonstrate that these unidentified lights in the sky were extraterrestrial craft. That would be amazing. The problem is, the standard to say that has to be high. Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence. And a light in the sky, while fascinating, it’s a big jump from there to E.T.”
